Vizio is not the most reliable brand of telly. You buy them cheap at a place like Walmart and think you are doing a good job in buying a nice, large telly at a good price.

However, these things don't hold up well.

Always buy a major brand like Panasonic, not the ones like HiSense, Vizio and Element. Now your know.

My husband purchased a Vizio E480i-B2 June of 2014 and we turned it on three weeks ago and there is sound but no picture. I was very ill at the time of the purchase and we had two tv's stop working within a couple of months so we needed to purchase a new one. WE had been told about how great Vizio tv's are so we purchased one at Wal-Mart and my husband brought it home. He forgot to purchase the warranty since he had a hard time at the store with the purchase and had to get a manager involved so that he could purchase the tv at the marked price. He was already frustrated and aggravated and did not think to add the extended warranty on. It was a great financial hardship on us since I am chronically ill with no income. We had been happy with the tv so we bought a smaller one for the bedroom since I am ill in bed a lot. We purchased the second one for our Christmas present. I CONTACTED VIZIO regarding the 48 inch and was told that the backlights were not working and that WE NEEDED TO JUST THROW THE TV AWAY and they would provide us with a discount for purchasing another tv from them. A replacement tv was another $700.00 that we certainly do not have!!!! The Christmas tv present, was paid for with my husband's bonus. I am very UNHAPPY AND FRUSTRATED with a company that would tell their customers that their tv was unrepairable and to just throw it away, and Oh by the way we can get you another tv for just as much as you just paid for the last one 18 months ago. This is very DISCOURAGING AND DISHONEST!! We now have two Vizio tvs, one that works and one that we are waiting to see how long it does work. This is a total rip off to consumers of Vizio..... At which Wal-Mart is carrying these televisions and selling a lot of them I would assume, since they are all over your stores and online. We need some sort of assistance with this problem. We support Wal-Mart online and in-store for almost all of our needs. Wal-Mart SHOULD NOT be selling a product that has such horrible customer service and horrible product life!!! No-one should be told that their television of 18 months is garbage and throw it away. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Screen black, no picture, but has sound. When working it has a great picture. After turning tv off for long time then back on it worked, happens a lot until finally nothing! I contacted support, did what they said & it worked for a while, but not now. I think it may be a boot up issue in the board..my guess. It's only a few yrs old.

After purchasing the 39 inch vizio smart tv the picture grew a frame around it after a few weeks. After finally getting hold of a live person they told me it was a model that had older parts in it and that is what was causing the issue with the picture . A new tv with old parts ? Go figure on that one. They did send a replacement but guess what? After about 2months it is doing the same thing again. Not sure if I'm going to go through what I had to go through with the last replacement yet. Shame shame shame on Vizio. Never again !

VIZIO TV MODEL VT420M FAILURE (2 UNITS)

VIZIO TVs are not worth the money at all, at least not the model listed above. Our first VT420M unit (bought in Sep 2009) lost volume 105 days after we bought it. Fortunately, WalMart pushed the 90 day return policy a bit, and exchanged the unit for a new one. That occurred in January, 2010. Here it is, June 2010, and the second VT420M is no longer functioning, just 5 months past 2 years!! (All warranties are expired; planned obsolescence?!) This unit turns on, shows the VIZIO logo on screen for 5-6 seconds, then goes blank and nothing can be done with it-----no response from the "input" buttons, no response from "menu" button. A turn off, then turn on repeats the same. Before VIZIO, we had a SANYO that worked beautifully for 15 years---and was still going strong when we donated to a nursing home! Forget about VIZIO; put your money elsewhere.
