TV working fine until the last 3 weeks. Bought 1/14/2015 @ Walmart. Turn it on it would be okay for awhile then the screen would go blank. Light still on in the back. Then the on switch indicator would come on and turn the TV off. Then you could turn it back on until...

Vizio - Tv Review from Cimarron Hills, Colorado
To whom this may concern: I purchased a Vizio 55 inch 3 dimensional TV about a year ago. I live in one of the most active States for lightning. This TV stated that had a lightning surge protector. Plus I had a lightning surge protector on the outlet the TV was plugged into. The TV was not even on when the lightning took the TV out. I feel the TV should have been better protected against lightning especially when its not even on. So now all I have is a 55 inch piece of junk. I am a disabled grandmother with few thrills in life left the TV was a gift I wish I could replace it . It was my pride and joy. I understand lightning is the act of God and I'm thankful for the TV being where it was placed because if it wasn't for the TV the Lightning would have traveled to my bed which I was taking a nap. So I'm thankful for that. if there is any way that I can replace it please let me know . It hurts my heart to have a TV that big sitting there. Thank you for your time. Damaged or defective
Saw the reviews about " the black screen of death" before buying but ignored them. It seems typical that Vizio TV's burn out and are not repairable between 1 to 2 years of use. My tv went black at 16 months and out of warranty. Brought it to the Geek Squad and said they will not sell or repair Vizio due to the cheap components. Go ahead call them before you by a Vizio. Brought it to 2 independent repair shops after paying a total of 140 to have it diagnosed as unrepairable. The response is consistent with these repair shops that Vizio is a piece of ***!! Before buying contact repair professionals to find the best tv for the price. Never ever trust any expert reviews online. They only review the product when it is new. Vizio customer service was completely unhelpful too.
Vizio in Denver, Colorado - Terrible After Purchase Service, VISIO TV
Dear Sirs/Madam I purchased a Visio TV 105 days ago at a Sam's - (one of three that I own), all purchased at Sam's. I've owned this TV 105 days and it has stopped working. I talked with my local Sam's in-store representative and told about Sam's in-store warranty is 90 days; and I was told to contact the manufacturer - Visio. I contacted them, and conducted a brief Visio directed diagnostics on the TV, and the representative told me the TV was faulty. He said that to get the warranty service I needed to ship the TV to them! This solution and policy is in effect NO-after sale warranty. The details and level of effort I would need to do to disassemble, find packaging material, wrap and package the TV, and ship (at my expense) is huge and I have a full time job with kids. To add to the insult there is 4 to 6 weeks for repair. The Visio Service Rep said that the TV failure rate was only 3% and I should be understanding - his manager confirmed the company policy of after service warranty on this product. Walmart (and Sam's) needs to understand what their product line vendors are providing for service, because it represents Walmart also. The summary of Visio's (guilt by association - Walmat and Sam's) product warranty is to create so much trouble with so many time consuming obstacles to get warranty service, that it's easier and less trouble for me to go buy a new TV then to through Visio's "warranty gauntlet" get a $300.00. It's quicker and easier to go buy a new TV. When I purchased this TV I asked about warranty the Sam's technician explained Sam's 90 day policy and repeatedly told me that Visio's service was "great and hassle free" he was wrong on both counts. I recognize that Sam's warranty is not the point, however I have purchased a good number of higher end items as Sam's that may require after 90-day service. The wisdom of shopping at Sam's (Walmart) for more expensive items is diminished considerable by this experience. I will not go to all the trouble to get Visio "after purchase warranty", I will go buy another TV, but the ill will generated will impact all three companies (Walmart, Sam's and Visio). As I review this summary, Walmart and Sam's are considerable more impacted that Visio. I will appreciate any efforts you can make to correct Visio's absences of after service warranty. Sincerely, Paul Hanneman
